Day started out with me getting up at about about 5am in the morning to make the 7hr trek to Charlotte, NC. For those that wanna know what I look like that early:
I know I look angry but…really I’m not, the flash just caught me off guard.
The trip was pretty uneventful getting up there, though I knew I was in TN when I saw a big ass fireworks store….right by my gas station. (Nobody has a problem with this? Gas+Fire+Fireworks? Hmm?)
Getting to the convention center an hour earlier then I had planned, I proceeded to do what any other red-blooded comic geek would do….I BOUGHT TRADE PAPERBACKS HALF OFF!!! ANYWAY around 2pm the DC Nation Panel was getting on its way, so me being me I took notes. You probably read this update a little already but for those that didn’t get a chance to, here is what was revealed at the DC Nation Panel.
-Mark Waid WILL be writting The Flash after #13!!!!
-Challengers of the Beyond (Kyle Rayner/Donna Troy/Jason Todd)
-Barbara Gordon will STAY in the wheelchair. Didio basically said what most fans feel, the character is stronger as Oracle then as she would be jumping around as Batgirl.
-There are rules to the multiverse and not everything has been fixed, in both the multiverse and in time (Well DUH man)
-Jann Jones is quite possibly the cutest and most comical of the DC crew that is here. Oh wait….I don’t really guess that is news.
-Possible Plastic Man book, apparently it’s been in the works. No firm date given for release yet though
-Ralph & Sue Dibny mini is coming but, not for awhile.
-Wildstorm is one of the 52 earths
-Batgirl aka Cassandra Cain….nobody has any clue where she is, seriously, they got no new info, AND BELIEVE ME I tried my best to get an answer. Didio gave a glib…she’s in the himalayas answer.
-Wonder Girl miniseries coming out of Amazon Attack series.
-Starman’s character, more explanation in JSA #10
-New Earth 2 – News coming December
-Krypto shows up in Captain Carrot later on.
-Bad Superboy appears in Sinestro Corp.
-Extra Lanterns other then the three, will be explained in Sinestro Corp.
-Ian Churchill… there is something in the works.
-Question/Batwoman miniseries.
- Sucide Squad Showcase….though Didio mistakenly said Essentials which…well I guess you had to be there
-Remember that Countdown poster with the Statue of Liberty and all the heroes around its broken pieces, well there is gonna be another poster done by Ethan Van Sciver and this will yet again be littered with clues.
I tried asking whether or not there’d be a Wildcat miniseries but…uh…no. Pretty much the standard answer for JSA minseries based on characters was….what you don’t read JSA Classified? Though I think one of the editors did tease a little something about a Star Girl series.
Couldn’t wrangle an interview with Didio, he was moving around so much I am suprised I could keep the guy still enough to get a picture.(See folks….3 hours of sleep….that’s what you’ll look like)
After the DC Nation Panel, I skipped one panel to finally check in to my room. Apparently….I am in a swanky hotel. Well at least what passes as swanky for me…(you gotta remember I am use to cheap Motel 6 accomdations folks)
After getting settled in at the hotel I headed back to the convention, caught a webcomics panel and did more trade hunting. I thought about going to the Ghost Rider panel but, meh. Talked to Eric Powell for a bit, getting a friends’ comic signed. Very cool guy…especially considering what I asked him to sign….believe me you don’t wanna know…needless to say my friend will laugh their ass off when they see it . Oh tip for those looking to make money at comic conventions….bring a lot of copies of The Killing Joke…seriously trying to find a copy for a friend was almost impossible and the one I did find cost me 30….though it was a first printing

All in all I am beat, so I am gonna wrap this one up. Day 2 coming soon!
